With all my comics, I have a general story I want to follow but the panel to panel stuff I generally let it unfold through a kind of improvisation.  That is, I draw a panel, think about what would follow naturally, then draw the next one.  I don’t know how many other people so this but it works for me, and occasionally things happen that surprise me.  I didn’t expect this to happen, but it works so well for the tone of the comic.  At this point I couldn’T imagine writing a full comic then drawing it … the panel by panel approach works so well for me that I don’t think I could do this any other way.
