Where do Marigold and Emmy go? I knew I couldn’t have them hang out in the bathroom forever, and these two needed to talk, so I thought about putting them in an area called The Black Box, which would have saved me from drawing backgrounds. In the end I didn’t; having no environment to interact with would made drawing it really dull and reading it just as dull. So I thought about Mari and what should would do and I thought Mari would be the kind of person who would go to a tropical island — solitary but in touch with nature.
