HAttiE – Tuesday June 14th, 2016 – Page 27
Marie is back! I honestly didn’t expect the last section to go 8 pages. I guess it was necessary though. I like the last line of this page, I did work on the wording for that because I wanted it to be ambiguous in language but obvious but what she’s talking about.

The final page of this section, which is a total of 8 pages. That’s the longest I have ever done without any dialogue, and it’s just a guy closing some doors and going to the can. I’ve been working on this sequence since April, and now that it’s finally done I can go back to dialogue. You can read the entire 8 page sequence on the HAttiE site here.

The next page. This is the longest I’ve ever done without dialogue in any comic I have ever done. It’s difficult because I have to draw more panels as it’s very quick to read and the sense of time is different between panels with dialogue and panels without dialogue. I’ve already gotten messages about this, but yes, he will wash his hands.

I had forgotten to update this site. There’s going to be a lot today. This is the next page of HAttiE. This is a long section without any words but hopefully it makes perfect sense once the section is finished. It probably has 2 pages left after this.

The next page. I think this is the fifth page in this section and I’ve tried to do it all with actions and sound effects, and in this part the sound effects are particularly necessary. It took a bit of fudging and trial and error, but i hope it’s clear that outside the bathroom door one of the doors Eric closed just became open again.

NOt too much to add but it does take a lot longer to draw these sequences without any dialogue. Everything is focused on the action, every panel has to be an action, and I can’t get away with a head shot unless it’s a facial reaction to something. Challenging but I think it will be worth it when it’s done.
