it’s true .. somehow depression helps you get tons upon tons of ideas, inspiration, and creative aid, but it restraints your activation altogether, you take drugs to help suppress it, you can work now but there is no inspiration anymore. it’s a double edged sword and both edges are cutting through you at the same time
Preach. Without meds I see what I want to draw but lack motivation to materialize it. On them? Now I’m too busy doing the “have to dos” to make it reality.

As a (former) musician, why the hell does that happen?

SSRI lethargy?
This is an advantage of being bipolar. It’s hell to live with but great for creative productivity.
Feel completely the same way with music, it’s tormenting.
Consider writing down all your ideas in a notebook or your phone as you get them
