    That’s an amazingly apt description.

although sometimes you climb out to realize your pit was in a bigger pit all the while.

This is what’s going on with me right now. For the first time in a long time I feel good,
and feel like I have a solid plan for staying good in the near term. But it’s only been
about a week, and so in the past few days I’ve been trying to explain to people what
I’m currently feeling, and what I’m nervous about (in case I slip or lose my way).

The pit always being there is certainly accurate, but it doesn’t just stay there statically. It stretches ever wider behind you, wherever you go and becomes more like a ravine. If you ever try to put your foot anywhere but in front of you, back down you go. Only this time, it’s a much bigger place to get lost in.

After doing an archive binge, I can say I very much relate to a lot of the strips. And, in regards to this one, I’ve been in that position multiple times. I agree with the above comment, it’s much more like a landscape that crumbles behind you as you go on, and stumbling or tripping will send you right back down into the hole. Sometimes somebody carelessly tosses a rock in your way and makes you fall in. Not intentionally, but it does the trick all the same.

I started reading from the first strip yesterday and, I just want to say, thank you for being so candid with your thoughts and experiences with depression.

My perspective has been broadened by just a bit, and I feel inspired to help others by giving them counsel, because I feel that I too can use draw from my experiences to understand those suffering from depression.

For better and worse, there are some strips that I don’t completely empathize with; however, I know that someone else will still be helped by them.

    Clay, thank you.

Just writing something: this one really has the visual feel to it, I like the way it’s drawn and I like the “feeling” to this one. Not like it counts, I’m just another viewer passing by, but this one really nails it. Maybe the only thing missing here is awareness. The hole behind us. If we know, we are scared of it. Dunno, maybe curious. Sometimes we crawl back to it. Maybe to hide. Have a hope… Then we fall :/
